Abstract

Using conventional methods and tools for establishing detailed, zonal water balances and performance indicators cause considerable efforts for manual data collection and processing. Thus, water balances in most cases are determined for a whole network only. Unmetered components are often neglected or based on rough estimates. This article presents an approach for automated establishing of zonal water balances and its implementation in a software tool. The application of the approach is demonstrated for the case of the Pforzheim water utility (Stadtwerke Pforzheim GmbH & Co. KG).
