Abstract

Submersible motor pumps, which had previously been damaged by superfi cial corrosion, have been successfully refurbished by a complete coating with two objectives: Firstly, the corroding materials were protected from the environment and thus further corrosion blocked. Secondly, the corroded surfaces were smoothened in the coating process, thus compensating the losses in fl ow energy and hydraulic performance. The pumps´ energetic effi ciency was increased above the original level, which secured the project´s economic pay off.
