Abstract

From June 2014 to October 2015 the Joint Board for Water Supply and Wastewater Disposal “Mittleres Erzgebirgsvorland” (ZWA) Hainichen implemented an energy management system, which was then certified according to the ISO 50001 standard. The ZWA’s complete energy use was made visible and can now be managed. The work processes were analysed in numerous discussions with ZWA personnel, and weaknesses and strengths were brought to light. The energy efficiency network of the ZWA was strengthened and one new staff member acquired as the new energy manager. Energy efficiency enjoys greater importance than before and is continuously promoted through technical measures.
