Results of trace organics monitoring programme 2021/22 in Bremen

Abstract

Removal of trace organics at WWTP are implemented in the proposal of the upcoming amendment of the EU-urban wastewater treatment directive (UWWTD). At the same time, the city of Bremen seeks to investigate the source and the fate of 59 trace organics in the urban area. The presented “trace organics monitoring program” considers current environmental quality standards of the EU-WFD for the water body Weser as well as possible requirements resulting from UWWTD proposal. Thereby the significance of WWTP as a source is shown and a basis for an implementation of the UWWTD-proposal is established.
