Abstract

Field devices are increasingly operated with a battery and/or direct cloud connection. These autarkically operated field devices allow live data to be obtained from locations that are difficult to access, e.g., flow measurement for a water spring in the forest. The location could also be moving/mobile, e.g., fill level on a tanker truck. The resulting requirements for the device management
along the life cycle (commissioning, configuration, update, repair) are manifold and will be discussed in this article.
