Abstract

Ethernet based network devices used in industrial automation often incorporate complex functionality and support a large number of network protocols. This increases the risk of device misconfigurations that may cause many hidden problems and are difficult to be detected. The paper presents an expert system for the detection of such static misconfigurations in Industrial Ethernet devices where the Link Layer Discovery Protocol (LLDP) plays an important role.
