Abstract

Hazards resulting from industrial automation systems, which threaten humans or the surrounding environment, must be strictly avoided. Because of the high complexity of modern industrial automation systems, analytical methods cannot guarantee the total absence of hazards. Since nowadays systems are charcterized by high variety and flexibility, a flexible agent-oriented monitoring system for industrial automation systems is presented in this paper. The monitoring system is based on formal temporal requirements whose validity is constantly checked.
