Abstract

During the design of energy management systems, a structured approach on the basis of standardized energy components is indispensable. With the aid of Power Management Classification (PMC), electrical, thermal and mechanical energy components can be divided into four classes. This involves a novel systematization approach, which arranges and structures the variety of energy components in a controllable way. PMC is important for Smart-Grid-Technology, automation, electromobility and energy harvesting. Together with a Power Management Interface (PMI) this forms the basis for a plug-in capability of energy components and opens up the possibility of the employment of a System Explorer.
