Predictive Functional Control: Algorithm and Test Implementation

Abstract

Predictive control is used primarily for complex optimal control. The presented Predictive Functional Control (PFC) provides algorithms for single variable or two variables systems. They can be easily implemented in programmable logic controllers and process control systems. The algorithm takes the limits into account while avoiding the integrator windup. The article demonstrates basic properties of PFC and implementation possibilities in the process control system Simatic PCS7.
