The human machine interface in times of demographic change

The demographic change and the associated increase of elderly employees in the industrial sector demands a rethinking regarding the working system in order to guarantee the competitiveness of the manufacturing industry sector. This report details the current status of research, using the Chemnitz Age Database, on the subject of human machine interface (HMI) with respect to the performance of elderly employees in the industrial sector. The report also highlights the fields of activities in age-differentiated HMI design in the industrial sector, which have to be looked at more closely in future.
