Abstract

Part 2 of the paper uses a prototype extension of Simatic PDM to show how FDI can be used for device management. The key tasks are arranged in the plant life cycle and requirements derived. The necessary steps are shown for two practical examples, commissioning a field device and exchanging field devices. The links to the components of the FDI device package are clarified.
