Abstract

The increasing complexity of flexible production systems in the factory of the future presents new challenges for a secure and intuitive operation of production systems. There is a trend towards using universal mobile devices in the field of industrial production. As multimedia-based all-rounders, devices such as smartphones and tablets offer significant advantages compared to conventional devices, particularly during communication initiation. A concept is presented for user-friendly communication initiation to reach better usability and acceptance. This generic concept was developed by the German Research Centre for Artificial Intelligence, implemented in several demonstrators, and evaluated in the SmartFactory-KL.
