Abstract

The IEEE organization currently defines time sensitive networking (TSN) as the future Ethernet standard, offering: high real-time performance, convergence and balanced prioritization of data-traffics, and optimized utilisation of the bandwidth. The anticipated high demand from the automotive industry will provide economies of scale and long-term availability of TSN chips, making this technology very attractive for use in process manufacturing. The real-time performance using the Ethernet standard may open up new opportunities for innovations.
