Abstract

We introduce an intelligent assistance system which observes and analyses manual assembly processes in order to identify special aspects of process behaviour. Manipulations are registered as a sequence of gestures. The time intervals between gestures can be analysed statistically. A large deviation in an assembly step may indicate quality problems or poor ergonomic layout. A Microsoft Kinect is used as a core part of the system. First results of the ongoing project are presented.
