A hybrid concept is presented for fault prevention in automated systems. The goal is to increase the average downtime while reducing the average repair time by predictive identification and inspection of fault developments. In addition, the concept aims to reduce the complexity of prevention processes compared to purely anomaly-based error prevention concepts. To meet these requirements, an errorbased methodology was developed that makes it possible to identify fault development characteristics after a single occurrence. By means of this information, the same system or similar systems may in future be checked for this particular fault development to avoid its recurrence. In addition, an anomaly-based inspection process is presented which as an option is also able to ensure a prognosis for unknown fault development. Overall, the hybrid anomaly management presented here contributes to increasing the availability of systems.
