Abstract

In order to ensure interoperability of products based on the OPC technology, the OPC Foundation has been running its own certification program for some years. Thanks to processes that are actively enhanced and adapted to the new aspects of the technology, the certification program is well prepared for the future and is able to respond quickly to new developments. For example, certification has recently been included for compliance with companion specifications, allowing one stop certification for OPC products. With this enhancement, vendors can check the quality of their products more quickly, while end users are able
to request certified products for rapid and easy integration of new products into their system. This article describes the recently adopted concepts for certification of OPC enabled products.
