Abstract

Cloud platforms are becoming increasingly relevant in industrial applications. Serving as data repositories, they increasingly take on modelling, structuring and exchange aspects, both for engineering and for live data. This paper presents an industrial application that enables engineers to model the increasing amounts of data in the cloud in a meaningful and efficient manner. Existing structures in planning (CAE) or engineering systems of automation technology and plant engineering provide the template. The „Visual Hierarchy Modeller“ tool developed for this purpose is presented using the example of the cloud platform
„Mindsphere“ by Siemens. Analogies to classical software and platform development are shown in order to classify the applied concepts in a meaningful way.
