Abstract

Despite progressive automation, manual activities remain an important component in the manufacture of customer-specific products. In order to support personnel and to enable efficient work, AR systems are increasingly favoured. The work presented here focuses on the development of holistic AR  workstations for use in small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). The manufacturing concept includes a just-in-time display of work tasks on the work pieces with automated production control. As a reaction to short product life cycles and high product diversity, all components are designed for maximum flexibility. A changeover to new products can be completed within minutes.
