Due to the publication of the NAMUR Open Architecture (NOA), there are new oppurtunities to digitalize the existing process industry. The acquisition and direct forwarding to the target address is especially for the operation of  process analytical technologies (PAT) of interest to improve efficiency and avaliability. In this article, the deeper benefit of NOA for PAT is outlined by presenting the advantages of standardized information models for PAT vitality data. Furthermore, the successful implementation of a NOA use case for PAT is shown in terms of the field wiring, the generation of the information model and the IT/OT transfer. At last, open aspects to achieve a comprehensive NOA implementation in existing installations are mentioned.
