Abstract

In addition to basic room and facility automation in buildings, it is becoming increasingly important to develop overarching energy management concepts for entire  municipal properties and university campuses based on building automation across all trades in order to achieve the goal of energy and resource-efficient system and  building operation. The manual reading of meters, which is still common practice today, must be replaced by an  automated and standardised procedure to achieve this goal. Concepts, methods, hardware components and  software tools were developed as part of the cross-university joint project EnMa-HAW, which were  implemented at four pilot universities in the state of Baden-Württemberg, extensively tested in practice and also evaluated as part of accompanying scientific research by the universities of Biberach and Offenburg.
