Understanding interrelationships using the example of AT@Industry 4.0

Abstract

This article deals with the use of concept maps to manage the complexity and diversity of topics in automation technology in the Industry 4.0 environment. Due to the constantly growing number of topics, it is becoming increasingly difficult for automation engineers to maintain an overview and understand the interrelationships. This article introduces concept maps as a method that helps to gain, structure and visualize knowledge. Concept maps are explained using various terms and concepts in automation technology.
