Abstract

By documenting and disclosing CO2 footprints (Product Carbon Footprints, PCF), the digital product passport (DPP) serves as both an incentive and a tool for manufacturing
companies and end consumers to operate in a more climate-conscious manner. This article outlines how the DPP4.0, using the Asset Administration Shell (AAS) and approaches to measure the energy consumption of individual software instances, can also capture the CO2 footprint of the DPP itself.
