Abstract

Embedded Systems have to fulfill both functional requirements and non-functional quality requirements like efficiency, reliability, and real-time. But with the advent of further processing power, today's mechanisms of performance improvement at uniprocessor systems break down. A new branch of embedded systems is required to achieve more processing power - Embedded Multicore systems. In the second part of this work, we present a simulation based approach to compare multicore scheduling algorithms. The approach can be applied to both dynamic and static scheduling algorithms. Additionally, we extend this approach for the analysis of stochastically described tasksets and compare this approach to two algorithms that has been introduced in the first part of this work (BinPacking+EDF and P-ERfair-PD²) for a group of automotive power train systems.
