Abstract

For Industry 4.0, the coupling of data from engineering systems, run-time systems, and higher level IT systems forms a basis for flexible reactions to changes in the production process or to the replacement of IT systems. This article explains the selection of UML as a notation for modelling the data coupling of engineering systems, run-time systems on the control level, as well as MES, ERP or other IT systems. The information needed for the data coupling is structured in seven sub-models with differing UML-diagrams. The approach has been developed and implemented for a production plant as part of a research project.
