Bus-ID: better access to public transport for people with impaired vision

Abstract

People with impaired vision encounter a variety of obstacles in everyday situations. The Bus-ID project offers an orientation aid based on RFID for the barrier-free use of public transport facilities. Initial field tests of the prototypes with regard to usability at a bus stop and at a pedestrian crossing were conducted with participants with impaired vision. The most important findings and results of the technical and socio-scientific surveys are presented.
