Abstract

Systems with programmable logic are becoming more and more interesting in drive engineering. This is due to the performance, which can be compared to a hardware based implementation, the flexibility in the design process and the range of applications, as well as the scalability. The concept shows structure, functionality and design of a component-based architecture for a drive control system. The focus is on the beneficial use of the resulting degrees of freedom in hardware and software. The article shows that the architecture is able to meet industrial standards as well as special requirements for a typical application regarding robustness and flexibility.
