Abstract

Modern process plants are becoming increasingly complex, with high demands on design, engineering, and operation. The use of simulation technology can help to address engineering and operational questions earlier and with lower risks. This article draws on the results of a global online survey investigating the current and future role of simulation within the life-cycle of a process plant (presented in [1]). The goal is the fully integrated use of simulation within the life-cycle of a process plant. The possible realization is investigated on the basis of a prototypical implementation within this article. Thus it can be shown that the partial realization of the vision for the future is already possible now.
