Abstract

BIM represents digitalization activities in building technology, whereas Industrie 4.0 is used as a synonym for digital transformation in German industrial sectors. Both concepts are based on standardized properties to describe assets over their entire lifecycle. However, between the developing concepts there is still a poor exchange and less common activities. In practice, this will face manufacturer and user of asset information with high expenditures in engineering information via different interfaces over lifecycle. First outcomes of a research project show, that information models of I4.0 are suitable to describe assets in building technology and can be integrated in BIM solutions. The paper examines synergies and possible combinations of both concepts.
