Abstract

From a control engineering point of view, refrigeration systems can be characterised as highly nonlinear and with strong couplings of process variables. In practice, normally simple controllers (two position controller, P/ PI-controller) with pre-defined and fixed controller parameters are applied. For a specific refrigeration plant the controller parameters of a PI controller will be determined with the method of Chien Hrones and Reswick. With a dynamic simulation model the characteristics of the system and based thereon the controller parameters will be calculated. Simulation studies show the effects of different controller parameters on the energy efficiency and the control performance.
