Abstract

The goal of Verification on Request, a component of NAMUR Open Architecture, is to allow optimization originating from outside the plant to be processed with a high degree of automation, repeatably, safely & securely, under the full control of the plant owner, while at the same time maintaining traceability of every change affecting the plant. To this end, the NAMUR recommendation NE178, which is currently in the process of being specified, describes a domain transition model and assigns specific, discrete processing steps for request contents. It also addresses aspects of security by design and guidelines for the operation of VoR solutions. This article highlights design decisions, preliminary architectural considerations as well as functional aspects of how the NE178, as presented at the NAMUR annual general meeting 2021, envisions a VoR System-of-Systems.
