Abstract

As the number of digital twins in a factory continues to grow, the integration of the relevant data sources must be scalable. So far, only little information is available on how to implement this integration in a scalable and reusable way for Industry 4.0. To address this gap, we describe five architecture blueprints based on our experience in various Industry 4.0 projects. These blueprints detail different integration scenarios whose application areas differ in terms of key attributes such as frequency of data retrieval and data generation. The architecture blueprints describe two core components, the Updater and the Delegator, which Eclipse BaSyx provides with the open-source   DataBridge tailored for the Asset Administration Shell. By using these opensource components and the described architecture blueprints, we enable engineers to implement scalable Industry 4.0 data integration.
