In Germany, a drone traffic management (UTM) system is to be established for the efficient planning, monitoring and controlling of drone flights. The integration of drones into the existing airspace requires the establishment of an automated drone infrastructure. Appropriate concepts and solutions are needed to realize this intention. In this article, the automation requirements are shown and a concept for the automated planning of drone flights is presented. The automation technology acts as an enabler for an efficient and safe UTM.
