Abstract

Secure communication channels are essential to protect production environments from cyber risks. The foundation is based on X.509 certificates, complemented by automated certificate management that connects IT and OT systems and controls processes to ensure high availability. In cooperation between BMW and Siemens, a scalable reference architecture for heterogeneous OT environments was evaluated using a demonstrator. Based on established standards, this architecture provides an interoperable foundation for protocol-independent integration of OT devices. The
solution relies on established standards and creates an interoperable foundation.
