Abstract

The increasing complexity of building services systems, coupled with a growing shortage of skilled personnel, necessitates holistic and automated methods for building
performance assessment, which are currently unavailable in practice. Existing evaluation systems predominantly focus on energy consumption or the mere presence of technical systems, rather than on their actual functional performance during operation. This first part of a two-part paper analyzes existing evaluation systems and introduces a newly designed function-oriented taxonomy of technical building equipment as the foundation for automated building assessment.
