Abstract

Small batches and labor shortages drive the need for autonomous factories. This paper presents an approach to automate the chain from order to production. Through the MX-Port concept, combining Asset Administration Shells, OPC UA, and EDC, interoperability and data space access are established in heterogeneous environments. The solution enables autonomous order processing and (semi-) autonomous, remote plant operation. This approach facilitates resilient, cross-company processes and is validated by prototypical demonstrators as a proof of concept.
