How can you best go about setting up a working Industry 4.0 environment? Eclipse BaSyx open source operating system for Industry 4.0 is being applied by several users. It provides the central components of Industry 4.0 deployments as Docker containers, and
also includes various preconfigured applications in containers. In this article, we describe first application scenarios implemented with Eclipse BaSyx and give an overview of the system architecture. We also describe the available components and how to connect existing devices with the Eclipse BaSyx middleware.
