Abstract

New developments and innovative solutions in production engineering are largely realized in form of software. Simulationbased methods are used to manage the associated complexity. An established method for virtual testing and safeguarding of control systems software is virtual commissioning, but its application nowadays ends with the start of production. In this article, the potentials of virtual commissioning as a connection between the virtual and real production are shown and the necessary prerequisites are discussed.
