The systematic development of new business models is an essential and challenging task in the context of corporate management. The ongoing digitalization make this even more difficult due to a large number of technological developments, some of them very complex, and far-reaching changes in established value-added structures. The VDI/VDE-GMA Committee 7.23 "Business Models for Industry 4.0" has set itself the task of creating a comprehensive guideline that effectively supports companies in the development of new business models for digitization and industry 4.0. Approximately 40 experts from science and industry are therefore working on this guideline in an interdisciplinary guideline committee, which will provide a comprehensive, yet practical overview of important design elements, challenges, approaches to solutions, further sources of information as well as concrete processes and methods after its publication. The main goal is to support small, medium and large companies in developing better business models for digitization and industry 4.0.
