Abstract

In order to increase efficiency in automation, digitalization is being driven forward. For networking (e.g. acquisition of diagnosticn data, remote maintenance), public or semi-public networks such as WLAN, mobile telephony or the internet are also used. Since attacks from the internet are already spreading to automation systems, the use of secure communications must also be promoted. Functionally safe protocols must also be possible via encrypted communications. It is therefore necessary to re-evaluate established standards and technologies.
