The evaluation and specification of the quality of simulation models forms an essential aspect for professional and contemporary model-based engineering. Currently continuously developed digital business models also rely on the integration as well as the sharing and monetary accounting of models with customers, either as an integral part of a product or as an independent digital product. In the first part of this series of articles “Identification and Clustering of Quality Criteria” (atp magazin 6/7-2020),
attributes were identified that serve as the authoritative basis for evaluating the quality of simulation models. In the second part, “Evaluation Metrics and Validation” (atp magazin 4-2021), different evaluation mechanisms were introduced, with the help of which a quantified classification into different quality levels becomes possible. In this third part of the paper, different roles are defined which become relevant during the life cycle of simulation models and their quality. The focus is on the respective application of the metric as well as on the use cases.
