Abstract

On the way to climate-neutral production, the Product Carbon Footprint (PCF) will become in the future more important in the production of automation components and their energy consumption over the life cycle. For the first time, this article sheds light on PCF over the entire life cycle of pneumatic actuators. Condition monitoring and predictive maintenance make it possible to reduce the torque reserve of pneumatic actuators in project planning and thus to select smaller sizes and thus reduce the PCF
of the actuators over their life cycle.
