Abstract

Functional safety is on the verge of a paradigm shift, which brings software-supported methods in particular to the fore as an innovation element in safety engineering, especially also from the field of artificial intelligence. This text gives insight into the current state of exchange and discussion in committees based on the development of ISO/IEC DTR 5469 “Artificial intelligence - Functional safety and AI systems” as well as the 2nd edition of the German standardization roadmap on artificial intelligence and hence brings to the fore with it a decisive non-technical factor: the human factor.
