NOA Security on the Test Bench

Insights from the penetration test of the security demonstrator

Abstract

One year has passed since the publication of NE177 - and thus the security concept of the Namur Open Architecture (NOA). Reason enough to examine buyable solutions with regard to their security performance. For this purpose, we have installed three different implementations in agreement to the NOA security concept into the IDEA facility in Frankfurt Höchst and subjected them to a professional penetration test. In addition to a short recapitulation of the NOA Security concept, this article deals with these implementations as well as the procedure and results of the security tests.
