Abstract

Module Type Package (MTP) provides a standard technology and vendor independent description of modules to ensure efficient integration into a Process Orchestration Layer (POL). Module Type Package was first created to address communication and connectivity issues in highly adaptive modular plants. But package units of non-modular plants have similar complexity in terms of integration. Hence, the MTP mechanism is useful for modular production as well as for fast and secure integration of packageunits into conventional production plants, which can be in green field or brown field facilities. We introduce the first practical application of MTP standards in an industrial environment.
