Abstract

Models of automation devices are used in plant simulations for specific applications with heterogeneous languages and tools in various degrees of detail. In this paper guidelines as well as a methodology for efficient and uniform modeling, supplying, instantiation and simulation of automation devices are presented. According to this methodology device models become integral parts of device integration technologies infrastructure, a further step in the seamless digitalization of automation engineering and a beneficial manifestation of the future digital twin of automation devices.
