An important component of NAMUR Open Architecture is the NOA information model. It defines which parameters are made available by NOA for monitoring and optimisation use cases, independent of the manufacturer. This article first describes the individual components of the NOA information model. Based on this, the objectives of the Namur Recommendation NE 176 are explained as well as the procedure for creating the recommendation. This procedure is explained using two examples, which were also prototypically implemented. Subsequently, the PA-DIM OPC UA model is presented in more detail as the technical implementation of the NOA information model. Finally, NOA is considered in the context of current Industry 4.0 activities.
