Despite the dominance of 4-20 mA technology, Ethernet-APL is becoming increasingly important. But how does the new technology affect investment costs? To answer this question, the NAMUR APL Taskforce defined a reference plant based on three different technology concepts. The focus of the study was on the hardware costs and the key steps involved in planning, installing, integrating and commissioning the system.
