Abstract

Enterprises can dramatically improve their economic performance by gathering and exploiting all the information they generate. Information can be seen as a property of a carrying entity. An integrated image of the information generated within the enterprise can be formed if these entities are tracked and their properties are evaluated throughout the lifecycle. This article develops a concept to create this image of information. Core concerns are dynamically changeable entity models, the interface to the real world, and a common semantic base between various information systems. An implementation prototype is presented.
