Abstract

This article presents an innovative concept for AR-supported visualization of data streams in industrial production environments. The project addresses the growing challenge of making complex technical systems and their data flows understandable for operating personnel and maintenance technicians. Conventional documentation methods such as static circuit diagrams only offer abstract representations and lead to difficulties in interpretation. The article describes the current state of the art and research in the field of AR applications for industrial environments and presents a first rudimentary AR demonstrator that was implemented on a demonstrator production plant. This visualizes data flows between network components in real time and enables an intuitive perception of the communication processes. The long-term goal is to develop a comprehensive AR interface that creates a new dimension of human-machine interaction by combining component recognition, 3D data sets and network data.
