The AAS Repository as a living digital twin

The AAS (Asset Administration Shell) is a structured information model for describing assets. It provides the technology for implementing “digital twins” of plants, products and processes. With its submodels, the AAS has gained widespread acceptance as a standardised information model for data exchange. This article proposes using the
data in an AAS repository for data storage as a living digital twin. As a technology proposal this paper illustrates the future potential of the AAS.
